I just meant that since so much media comes from LA, it's sort of become the "neutral" accent, sort of the way Received Pronunciation/BBC English used to be the neutral British accent. It's loosening up there more nowadays, but David Tennant put on an Estuary English accent to sound more neutral as the Tenth Doctor as opposed to his natural Scottish accent after Nine's northern accent.

When I would get with friends at Liberty, I was the "girl with no accent" among my New England, Midwestern, and Southern friends, though one Southern California girl said I sounded like a Valley Girl. Like, I totally have, like, no idea what she, like, meant by that. :P
