This morning was hard... get up at 6:45 AM (when I usually don't get up before 9) to make sure Lauren got ready for school, followed by a quick snooze until it was time to leave for school at 7:30, then a quick donut stop before heading to the hospital to sit in the cafeteria until noon with Mom and Armine... at least we had fun. Hospitals unnerve me.
Dad came home at noon, I napped until I had to pick Lauren from school, then got ready to leave for work. The kids were unruly (which tends to be par for the course), and I really wasn't in the mood for the antics. I'm trying to teach them about verb tenses, but it's not working, and now that I've opened the can of worms, I find I get to teach them about verb endings! There are so many rules that I have a hard time remembering them all, and now I need to find a way to make sure these 3rd-4th graders understand it! Then there's one kid that doesn't pay attention then says he's bored, then he doesn't want to do the work I ask him to do (really, I ask for three sentences. He's in third grade. I don't even care if they're perfect, since I'm there to teach him how to do it correctly), but once he does, he does an okay job! And then he has the nerve to say that he doesn't know anything. Then there's the boy and girl - boy grabs girl's pencil, boy "accidentally" steps on girl's feet because girl was "sticking them out." Thank goodness for Quiet Girl and Quick Study Boy, because they're keeping me sane... and I end up ignoring them in an effort to keep the other three in line. I should call my boss tomorrow to see what the options are.
Anyway, Armine, Hrayr, and Tahleen came over for dinner (one of the Newgen leaders brought us veggie lasagna - I'm not really a zucchini and mushroom person, so I kind of ended up with a large pile of picked-out veggies, but the lasagna itself was pretty good), and when I got home, Dad was in the living room watching basketball. We all had a great time watching the American Idol auditions (who doesn't enjoy a good auditory train wreck?), and he was even up and moving around for a little bit before heading to bed.
Speaking of bed, I get to take Lauren back to school in the morning, do my laundry, and write progress reports and try to wrap my head around what I'm going to do with my math kids tomorrow... all before 2 pm. I'm think I'm going to be going crazy for the next few days.
