(Crazy day deserves a crazy icon.)
Wow... so, I've finally decompressed from today (I think), and now it's time to blog.
Today started out like any normal day... sleeping in 'til 10:30 (it's nice not working/working only in the afternoons), then spending the rest of the morning in my pajamas surfing the net. Shannon asked if we could go out to lunch since there was nothing in the house, but then Mom and Dad came home and said we were going to go to Taco Bell. Of course, it's always nice when the parents pay, so off we went. Okay, I was still in my pajamas. So, while I got dressed, Mom told us that she had gotten a call from Grandma and Grandpa while she was at work. They had gotten the call from UCSF saying that they had a kidney for him, and they were headed to the hospital! His surgery is tomorrow, at 5 am.
I draw your attention to something I posted on New Year's Day (don't worry, this should be the last time I reference this):
I know the chances of him getting a kidney transplant this year are low, so I'm not officially putting that on the list, but I also believe in a God who does big things... and likes to show off a bit
Of course, back then, I had no idea that I'd have all of this by May! What did I tell you? God loves to do big things, and He loves to do things so that He gets all the glory. So naturally, He gets all of it, and I'll just sit back in awe at how God works. Prayers are appreciated, and please pray for the donor's family, too, since they've just lost someone dear to them.
After all that, I called my temp agency this afternoon to double-check when I needed to be at my temp job tomorrow. He (a very nice guy with an unmistakable Aussie accent) told me that he hadn't heard anything from them in a couple weeks, and the job might have gone cold... meaning no sweet 6-week job for me. Then he called me back to let me know he had left a voicemail for the lady at the County. Then he called to let me know everything was ironed out, and I'd be working for the Facilities and Maintenance Department (???), when I had been told I'd be working in Purchasing. Nothing against Facilities/Maintenance (my dad worked as a custodian for years, and is now the Facilities Coordinator at church), but I'm not sure what they'd need a temp for. Anyway, he couldn't read his own notes, so he said he'd call me back. Then he called me to say everything was ironed out: 6 weeks, starting May 26th at 8 am (ew), in the Stanislaus County Purchasing Division. Yay. Every time, there would be no less than 20 minutes between calls, and a few times it would only be a few minutes... it started to get kind of funny after a while.
So, that was my crazy day. Lots of good news, and hopefully more tomorrow.
