Quote of the Whenever I Feel Like Changing It
“And don 't forget, the next time you're planning a family vacation, consider visiting Genovia. A country of majestic mountains and sunbaked beaches, filled with friendly, peppy people. Come see us. Genovia awaits you.” – Joe, “The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement”

Okay, so I got one of the coolest things today. I went shopping for a new straightener (mine is pretty worn out, but it is at least 3 years old!), but Target didn't have the one I was looking for (Remington Wet 2 Straight is the best straightener out there!). They did, however, have "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? Treasures of Knowledge" on clearance for $10!

This version of "WITWICS?" is vastly different from the versions I played as a kid (I remember playing a version on my uncle's old Mac that had 8-bit graphics, and everything was that DOS green color), and the downside is that there are apparently only 8 mini-missions that you go on while trying to solve one big overarcing case. I think I've already solved at least 5. If I wanted to, I could have beat the entire game today. This is not fair. I need to find the old Deluxe version from the mid-90s (seems like that one had hundreds of possible cases), but the abandonware file I downloaded wouldn't work with Vista...

I guess this is what happens when a 24-year-old girl tries to play something aimed at ages 8 and up... The irony? Carmen Sandiego's the one that gave me all my geography knowledge. Has the student finally surpassed the teacher?

Today was pretty much the best day ever for Sammie, my dog. This morning, kids from my dad's junior high small group came over to do yard work - our front yard looks great. They also worked in the backyard a little, and so Sammie got to make some new friends... friends who also gave her their pizza crusts. And then she got some little bits of Italian chicken that were left over from dinner, too!

After my (awesome) nap this afternoon, Dad told me that he found out that our bank might be going under, which is partially fine, since FDIC will cover my money if it does, but also partially sucks because I know one of the tellers, and I don't want her to be without a job. This also means that I might have to find a new bank, because I enjoy my no-fee checking, and the banks that might buy my bank don't offer fee-free checking. Is Wachovia a good bank? Washington Mutual? I know both of these banks have been bought out recently; if you use either one of these banks, do you think that either (or both) will be stable in the future?

Say it with me: That reminds me of a song... )

Also, my Cinematic Titanic tickets came in the mail yesterday... T-minus 14 days!

[Error: unknown template qotd] I'll lie in state for several days at the Corn Palace while "Hooked on a Feeling" is sung by a choir of castrati.

Seriously, I haven't given it much thought. I think I'd like to be an organ donor, but this is a relatively new thought and I haven't really verbalized it to anybody... I thought it might be cool to be cremated and have my ashes scattered somewhere awesome, but I want some sort of grave marker or memorial stone. Maybe I'll have a plant dedicated to me and have the rock underneath it. At any rate, I want a marker so I can have some form of this quote: "The term is over: the holidays have begun. The dream is ended: this is the morning. [...] But for them it was only the beginning of the real story. All their life in this world and all their adventures in Narnia had only been the cover and the title page: now at last they were beginning Chapter One of the Great Story which no one on earth has read: which goes on for ever: in which every chapter is better than the one before." It's the closing lines of The Chronicles of Narnia.

Of course, there's always the educational route, a real hands-on kind of funeral... details of my embalming written up and distributed... :-P Or have myself interred in a mausoleum on the fourth floor of DeMoss Hall at Liberty... that way there really would be a dead body up there!
